    November 2017 update

Our water resources position is satisfactory and we do not anticipate the need for customer restrictions, ie, hosepipe bans.

Our region received below average rainfall in September and October. However, over the last six months we have received above average rainfall

Current total reservoir storage stands at 65% of total capacity. Pumped storage (where we pump water from rivers to top up storage in the surface reservoirs) is currently running from Bridgwater and Taunton Canal to Durleigh reservoir.

River flows are monitored on a daily basis to ensure stream supports are switched on as the appropriate flow triggers are reached. River flows have shown signs of recovering during late October. Most of the stream supports are no longer required.

Stream supports are in operation in the following locations: Alton Mill (River Piddle near Piddletrenthide); Brixton Deverill (River Wylye near Warminster); Chitterne (Chitterne Brook near Warminster); Dewlish (Devil’s Brook, Dorset); Hullavington (Gauze Brook near Malmesbury); Kingston Deverill (River Wylye near Warminster); Little Chalfield and South Wraxhall (Chalfield Brook near Bradford on Avon); Lower Stanton St Quinton (Rodbourne Stream near Chippenham); and Watergates (Tadnoll Brook, Dorset)

Groundwater levels in our region remain below average due to the lower than normal rainfall over the last 12 months.

The drier than normal autumn has slowed recovery of groundwater levels.

leaks fixed on our network during 2016/17 plus a further 4,000 leaks fixed for free on customer's private supply pipes.

We are committed to helping customers to reduce their water use. We are:

Using water wisely can reduce customers' utility bills and help their local environment.
